In the turn and polish process, a hot-rolled bar is peeled down to a specific diameter. This process takes away the surface, which results in tighter dimensional tolerances and the elimination of surface imperfections. The polishing process gives the bar a smooth finish, and improves the surface quality.
Cold finished turned and polished bars offer improved dimensional tolerances and straightness, as well as a seam and decarb free surface. They are often utilized in a variety of applications such as steering racks, pinions, and machined parts that have critical surface requirements.
